Today in Tucson: 'All That Glitters: Optical Phenomena in Gems'

Meet with Gem-A to take a look at some of the amazing optical
effects that can be found in a variety of gemstones, such as asterism, colour change and iridescence, to name but a few. This practical session will focus on the use of observation, 10x loupe and appropriate lighting conditions to view these effects at their very best, as well as considering their causes and possible imitations.

If you have your own loupe you are welcome to bring it along — some additional loupes will also be available.

Hands-on session, limited to 24 places. Beginner–Intermediate.
