Gem-A South West Branch: Diamond, Diamonique or Duff?

BRLSI, Queen Square, Bath - United Kingdom

From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This one day workshop will provide you with the information and practical experience to help you to identify diamonds from their common simulants and to recognise diamond clarity treatments.

We are very lucky to have Claire Mitchell, Diamond Tutor from Gem-A, joining us for the day to teach this specialised course.

On the day you will be provided with all the equipment you will need. In the morning session you will be guided step by step through the process of identifying diamonds and common - as well as not so common - simulants seen in both modern and antique jewellery, concentrating on the two most commercially important (CZ and Moissanite). You will also have the chance to put theory into practice by comparing diamond, CZ and Moissanite using a 10x loupe and thermal and multi testers.

In the afternoon, Claire will be focussing on diamond clarity treatments (laser drilling and fracture filling), how they affect grading and when/where care and caution with the filling should be applied. You will have the opportunity to view these treatments first hand using a10x loupe.

Diamond CutsAdmission: The price for the workshop is £90.00, discounts are available for group bookings of 3 or more. This includes all you will need for a fun day of diamonds including lunch, tea, coffee soft drinks and fantastic chocolate cake.
