The trade
If you are a retailer or employer within the gem and jewellery trade, educate your staff with a Gem-A course or workshop. Their new knowledge and refreshed skills will help them better inform potential buyers by providing professional and reliable sales advice.
The enthusiast
If you have a passion for gemstones, or are thinking about buying a diamond or a gemstone as a gift for a loved one and want to be able to make a more informed choice, a workshop is the perfect option for you.
The student
If you are a studying gemstones or diamonds and want to learn more about a specific area of study, why not attend a one-day workshop. These classes will enhance your understanding and familiarity with a wide range of gemstones.
We offer the following types of short courses:
• Practical lab classes:
- Foundation and Diploma lab classes
- Diamond Grading and Identification course
- Advanced Diamond Grading course
These intensive practical classes allow ODL students to gain practical experience and familiarity with gemmological equipment, and are also available as stand-alone classes.
• Workshops: These focus on specific areas within gemmology.
• ‘Taster’ classes: These are designed to give you a taste of our courses and of some of the content covered, as well as to familiarize you with handling gems.

Workshops are held at the Gem-A London headquarters from 10:00 to 16:30, unless otherwise stated. Due to limited class sizes, early booking is recommended. If you would like to register for a workshop, please fill out a short courses and workshops booking form from our downloads page and return it with your payment to Gem-A.
For those booking as a student, you must quote your Gem-A student number when you make your booking. If you are a non Gem-A student, please provide the name of the institution you attend on your booking form and bring proof of student status with you to the workshop. If you do not bring proof of your student status (e.g. student ID), you will need to pay the difference for the standard price when you arrive.
